We reported in our June newsletter that a very generous friend of Sassier volunteered to provide a matching grant challenge for the construction, furnishing, and operation of a medical clinic in Sassier.   While we were in Sassier in June, we discussed the project with Madame Concepcia Pamphile, who is Associate Medical Director of St. Anthony Hospital in Jeremie.  She was also the keynote speaker at the College Pierre Toussaint graduation.  Mme Pamphile was very interested in the project and volunteered to help us write the application to Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health, which must approve such facilities.  We are very grateful that she will be helping us, as working your way through any Government bureaucracy is a real challenge.   We have a meeting scheduled for the week of July 21 to begin the process, which will probably require hiring an engineer/architect to develop preliminary plans for the building.  We will keep you updated on our progress.
