The celebration in Voldrouge was also a great event. St. Ann School is the answer to many prayers by parents in that community. Just made a parish in 2012, St Ann was previous a mission chapel of the Parish in Sassier. “We now have a school to which we can send our children,” said Ilia Floraint, who has two school-aged children. “This will help to transform our community. Great things will come from this. Just look at how Sassier has progressed in the past 10 years!”
Barbara Becker, President of the Association for Schools in Hispaniola, cut the ribbons on the three new school buildings, which form a courtyard that will serve as a playground for the children. “We are very happy to dedicate our second school in Haiti.” Ms Becker, a Kindergarten teacher in Germany, was particularly pleased with the special painted illustrations on the wall of the Preschool building.
Beginning in September, St Ann School will welcome students from Preschool to 6th Grade.
