In addition to the new Michael Heiming school building in Sassier, our German friends funded two other school buildings in other towns in the Grand Anse province. Both the projects are moving along very well, despite a two week construction delay caused by Sandy. An 8 classroom school for St Ann Parish will be finished by the end of the year. Another 8 classroom school in Tozia, a chapel of the Parish of St Mary Magdalene in Duchity, will be done by February. We and our German friends are already reviewing sites for new schools. We will submit our requests for funding in May 2013 and hopefully begin construction on two or three sites in Fall 2013. It is estimated that only 50% of children in Haiti’s rural areas attend school.
